FAQ'S

What is micro-needling?

Micro-needling or Dermaroller is a treatment where a roller is used to produce thousands of micro-channels in the skin. Each channel will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be 0.5 to 1.5mm in length depending on the concern being treated. The channel closes rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly – often in the same day.

What happens during my treatment?

The skin is cleansed and any make-up is removed. The roller covered with micro-scopic needles is rolled over the skin in different directions. The tiny needles pierce the skin causing mild inflammation. Serum and active ingredients are applied and the treatment finishes with protective products and SPF. The treatment normally takes between 15-30 minutes.

What results should I expect?

After the micro-needling procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin. This takes time as new collagen and elastin is formed. New skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen. This process will continue over the following months, giving natural and long lasting results.

The results after a course for acne scarring or stretchmarks will be permanent. For skin rejuvenation the results will last a minimum of 6 months.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required will be determined at your initial consultation. Best results after a course are seen between 1-3 months after the course has been completed.

Is there any downtime?

After the treatment your skin will be warm, red and slightly tingly. There may be some mild redness and swelling which can last between 2-7 days. You will be advised on home care during your consultation.
